Seasonal changes are known to bring fever-related illnesses. Nilavembu, a herbal decoction made with potent herbs, is meant to help boost immunity and support the body's health. Nilavembu Kashayam has been traditionally used in Siddha medicine as a remedy for fever and for its ability to prevent various infections. It can also be used to relieve body aches, fatigue and headache.
The herbal combination is made from natural herbs with medicinal properties including Nilavembu (Green Chiretta), Black Pepper, White Sandalwood, Dry Ginger, Vetiver (Khus), Snake Gourd, Nut Grass, Parpat and Coleus Vettiveroides Root (Vilamichai ver)
Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India has recommended Nilavembu Kudineer decoction of 60ml, twice a day for prevention & symptom management of COVID 19 like illnesses.
The Tamil Nadu government had distributed Nilavembu Kashayam to treat people infected with dengue during the outbreak in 2017.
- Boil 5 gms (one tablespoon) of powder with 200 ml of water until the decoction is reduced to 50 ml. Since the taste of the decoction is bitter, we can add honey or palm jaggery to it
- Take twice daily before food, or as directed by a physician
- Dosage: 30 ml for Children, 60 ml for Adults
